A private junior and senior high school in Tokyo seeks a full-time social studies teacher to be hired directly. This is an IB school, following the Japanese governmental course guidelines of MEXT, while implementing an English Immersion program. The subjects you would be in charge of are MYP Contemporary World History/Civics & DP Business Management.

Starting date: April 2022

Salary: additional information on sample salary is available
housing allowance available
teaching allowance (HR) is available
overtime allowance: available and paid per hour
* fixed amount with base salary is paid every month for overtime
annual bonus: 4 to 5 months actually paid in the previous year

Conduct course instruction, curriculum development, and inquiry-based assessment
Create and maintain lessons plans for each unit of inquiry
Participate in necessary faculty and parent meetings
Serve as either a homeroom teacher or assistant homeroom teacher.
Support the planning and development of school events
Support extracurricular club activities
Actively collaborate with other teachers to help establish a new, and progressive and educational program here in Japan

Undergraduate degree in the target instructional discipline Social/Human Science related
(e.g., - International Studies, Business, Economics, Liberal Arts, Sociology, etc.)
Working-level proficiency in both Japanese (JLPT N1 or equivalent Level) and English (CEFR C-1 Level)
Experience in teaching, research or working experience in the related field
A self-starter mindset with the drive to take on new tasks headfirst.

Understanding the Japanese school system by experience is favorable.
